Information on SOA licences
This is one of the most common licences that Garth Partnership is asked to approve on behalf of DEFRA. In essence this licence links approved premises and they are treated as one property - consequently pigs can move freely between all linked premises with no standstill. However, it is important to remember that movements onto just one of the SOA holdings from an external unlinked premise will trigger the usual 20 or 6 days standstill on all the linked SOA premises, preventing any movements off except to slaughter.
Full guidelines on all permitted movements, licences, standstill rules and exemptions are available on the DEFRA website.

If you are interested in obtaining a SOA and would like to know if your premises are eligible or if your operations would benefit, please contact Garth Partnership. In order to obtain a SOA a vet will carry out an inspection of all premises and complete an application form which is then subject to DEFRA approval.
[While this is our understanding of the current situation we can take no responsiblity for the interpretation of DEFRA legislation. This is also subject to change at short notice so we would always recommend looking at the DEFRA website].
There are no downloads available please contact Garth Partnership. In order to obtain a SOA a vet will need to carry out an inspection of all premises and complete an application form which is then subject to DEFRA approval. Please contact us for details.
