The Pig Issue - July 2016

In July's issue we take a look at Staff training, and specifically Euthanasia Training which the Red Tractor regulations state; that on every unit at least one member of staff must be assessed as competent, to euthanase pigs, at a veterinary visit..

Do you know the BPHS scheme is due to end and there is no clear replacement in sight! If you would like to see BPHS maintained then now is the time for action.

We also take a look at Leptospirosis. This disease affect the reproductive system of the sow and is probably the most important group of diseases due to big economic losses that can result.

Finally, we also provide an update on our new vet and the options of student study.

Happy reading!
